In addition to this public outage information, the Storm Center implementation will provide customer self service for National Grid users through authenticated outage reporting and status check forms on the website.
The new system is being implemented by a joint team of National Grid and iFactor staff members, using an interface to the outage management system to provide customers, the media, and emergency responders with access to the best information available at National Grid. By building on the flexibility and capabilities of the Storm Center product, a rapid implementation is possible, leading to a solution that is planned for deployment before the end of 2009.
